The Indonesia’s General Election Commission Take Complete Re-check

Jakarta – General Elections Commission (KPU) finally take complete check of the voter list for remaining voters concerning the voter list controversy. KPU Chairman Abdul Hafiz Anshary ordered his men to cooperate with the presidential success team.

“Tomorrow it must be completed. KPU Now, with the Provincial KPU and Regency / City are working together to complete checking the Voter List with the National Successing Team of the President and Vice President Candidate in the region,” said Hafiz in the press conference at the KPU office, Jalan Imam Bonjol , Central Jakarta, on Monday (6/7/2009).
The press conference was being held after the KPU meet presidential candidate JK-Mega-Wiranto and Prabowo, with each successing team.

According to Hafiz, KPU already has a long discussion with the JK Wiranto and Prabowo Mega team. Basically, there are two main agenda being covered, which is checking the Voter List and the opportunity to use the regular Citizen ID Card to take votes.

“We agree to do corrections together. Now the IT team from each candidate with the KPU inventorying voters name. If there are double registered voters, it should be out of the voter list,” said Hafiz.

In addition, if the voters who already dead but still registered in the voter list, also should be out of the list. If found that a member of TNI/police which still duty active, they also must be removed from the list. So also with names that does not clearly identify and they who still underage.

“If someone under 17 years old, but already married, then we keep his list on the voter list. But, if someone under the age of 17 years old and single, then it must be removed from the list,” he explained.

Hafiz also stated that if they found name that has double identification number also be removed. Until 12:40 at WIB, the press conference is still in progress.
